The Cabin
About this cabin
Sharp-gabled, lake-facing, and dramatically renovated — this beachfront cabin on Houghton Lake is the kind of place where the view through the upper windows stops you cold the moment you step inside.
From the outside you see a light grey A-frame-influenced structure with a tall front gable of glass, a covered entry deck lined with royal-blue Adirondack chairs, and a firewood stack ready for evening. The house faces Houghton Lake head-on, and a dock stretches out from the sandy frontage below. This is a Houghton Lake cabin rental that takes the waterfront seriously.
Inside the cabin
The great-room is an architectural moment: soaring vaulted ceiling with exposed wood-clad rafters, a wall of gable windows framing an open sky and the lake dock simultaneously, and a warm-toned beam grid overhead. The living area holds a generous grey sectional sofa with a matching armchair and ottoman, a large-screen TV mounted on a cobalt-blue feature wall, and a round side table that catches the afternoon lake light. The dining table seats at least ten under a statement chandelier, a natural gathering point, while a breakfast bar with industrial stools bridges the space into the kitchen, which has dark granite counters, a stainless pull-down faucet, and full-size Whirlpool laundry on site.
The bedrooms
Four bedrooms accommodate up to 12 guests, a rare capacity that makes this a standout for large groups. Two full bathrooms serve the house, and the layout gives families and friend groups room to spread across floors without crowding.
Outside your door
A wide deck with a retractable awning runs the full width of the front facade, furnished for dining and lounging with the lake as the backdrop. The dock is fitted with Adirondack chairs set directly over the water, stay out here at sunset and it's easy to lose track of the time.
What's Nearby
Houghton Lake is Michigan's largest inland lake, drawing boaters, ice fishermen, and families all year. The town of Houghton Lake is minutes away for restaurants, bait shops, and ice cream, and the Higgins Lake State Park beaches are a short drive north.
Perfect For
Large families or two-family groups who need real beachfront access and sleeping for 12, summer lake trips with boats, kids on the dock, and evening cookouts that stretch long into the night.
