The Cabin
About this cabin
Charming, cedar-sided, and nested so deep in the summer-green hardwoods of Glen Arbor that the building practically disappears into the forest — this two-story cabin rental in northern Michigan has the low-key appeal of a well-loved camp hideout.
The exterior is board-and-batten vertical siding in weathered taupe, with a second-story exterior staircase climbing the side and a little teal-painted door at street level. Maples and oaks lean right up to the roofline, leaving the building in cool, dappled shade even on bright summer afternoons. Unit 27 is tucked into a quiet cluster, with a paved walkway leading in from the drive.
The heart of the home
Inside, the living room is a two-story tall, open space anchored by a distinctive white globe-style wood-burning stove on a tile pedestal, the kind of statement piece that sets the whole mood. A terracotta-red sofa faces it across a glass-top coffee table, a flat-screen TV on a barn-door media console tucks into the corner, and a single large window pulls in tree light. From the living area, the open staircase winds up to the loft level. The dining room sits just beyond, an oval white table with metal bistro chairs, warm orange-toned walls with knotty pine wainscoting, and a sliding door that opens directly to the small back patio.
Where you'll sleep
Three bedrooms sleep six across the main and upper levels. The main-floor queen has a serene blue-grey palette, wood-framed dresser, and an en suite bathroom just off the room. A second bedroom holds a twin over full bunk alongside a separate single, ideal for kids or three adults. Three bathrooms in total keep mornings moving.
What's Nearby
You're steps from the shops and coffee spots of Glen Arbor village, and the rest of Glen Arbor's best, including the Sleeping Bear Dunes and Crystal River canoe launches, is minutes in any direction. Empire Beach and the national lakeshore are under ten minutes by car.
Perfect For
Small families or two couples wanting a proper forest escape with walkable access to Glen Arbor's bakeries and galleries, no car needed for your morning coffee run.
