The Cabin
About this cabin
Classically lakeside, quietly generous, and sitting right on the western shore of Mullett Lake — this five-bedroom cabin near Indian River is the kind of property where the dock and the fire pit are booked as solid as the bedrooms.
The white clapboard cottage is low and wide, set back from the shore on a grassy lawn shaded by a sweeping old willow tree. From the aerial, the setting is unmistakable: two private docks jut into Mullett Lake's glassy water, with a covered boat slip alongside, and the fire ring sits between the tree and the shoreline. The property sits on a quiet stretch of the lake, surrounded by summer-green neighbors and a wide open sky.
Inside the cabin
The main living area is done throughout in knotty pine, paneled walls, tongue-and-groove ceiling, hardwood floors, giving the whole room a warm amber tone even on overcast days. A fieldstone fireplace with a river-rock face anchors one wall; a TV mount sits above it, and a plaid sectional and wooden mission-style sofas face the hearth. The room opens directly into the kitchen: knotty pine cabinetry continues through, with a window over the sink framing a view of the pines outside, a stainless gas range, and a bar counter with stools overlooking the dining table. A pendant lamp and lake-themed signage on the wall make the kitchen feel genuinely lived-in.
Where you'll sleep
Five bedrooms sleep ten. The sleeping rooms include knotty-pine bunk rooms, one with twin-over-full bunks set against the pine walls, and private rooms with queen beds. Three full bathrooms keep a group of ten from queueing at the sink. Dogs are welcome.
Outside your door
Two docks and a covered slip on Mullett Lake give this cabin real boating credentials. The grassy lawn rolls from the cottage steps to the water's edge, the old willow provides shade by the shoreline, and the fire pit sits in a prime spot between the tree and the lake.
What's Nearby
Mullett Lake connects to Burt Lake and Indian River, part of the Inland Waterway, one of Michigan's great boating routes. Indian River is a few miles up the road for groceries, casual dining, and the famous Indian River Cross. Petoskey and Charlevoix are both under an hour north.
Perfect For
Large families or two families traveling together, up to ten guests plus pets, who want genuine lakefront access on one of Northern Michigan's most beloved inland lakes.
