The Cabin
About this cabin
Elegant, airy, and tucked into the wooded heights of Old Mission Peninsula — this five-bedroom Northern Michigan vacation rental feels like a design-forward retreat that happens to be surrounded by trees.
The exterior is a sage-green chalet-style build with a soaring A-frame roofline, floor-to-ceiling windows on the gabled end, and a broad white-railed deck cantilevered out over the sloping hillside. Mature maples and oaks press in close, and a staircase descends from the deck to a pine-needle path below. From the outside, those massive windows promise something special within.
Step through the door
The great room delivers. Cathedral ceilings climb to the peak, lit from above by a full grid of wood-framed windows that turn the treeline into living wallpaper. The sitting area is curated rather than casual, a deep grey sectional, two cognac velvet armchairs, a white loveseat, and a marble-top coffee table on a jute rug over pale hardwood. On the opposite wall, a black-surround gas fireplace burns behind a round arched mirror on a warm wood mantel, with open-shelf bookcases flanking it in honey oak. A round dining table set for six sits just off the kitchen, framed by a fireplace backdrop, and the kitchen itself runs along the far wall, dark-topped counters, maple cabinetry, and bar stools at a peninsula.
The bedrooms
Five bedrooms spread across multiple levels sleep ten. The bathrooms, three in total, include a well-appointed en suite with a full walk-in tile shower, wood-fronted vanity, and vaulted ceiling. Every room is reached via a light-washed corridor or the open staircase visible from the living area.
Outside your door
The deck is where you'll linger, a glass-railed platform with wide views into the tree canopy, deep enough for a table and chairs, and quiet enough that you'll hear birds before you hear traffic.
What's Nearby
Old Mission Peninsula puts you among cherry orchards and acclaimed wineries, with Traverse City's shops and bay beach just fifteen minutes down the peninsula road. Suttons Bay and the Leelanau wine trail are easily within reach for an afternoon out.
Perfect For
Multigenerational families or groups of up to ten who want design-conscious interiors, wooded privacy, and easy access to both TC and the peninsula's farm-to-table dining scene.
