The Cabin
About this cabin
Steeped in old-growth character and glowing amber at dusk, this storied lakefront lodge on Long Lake is the kind of Traverse City vacation rental that feels as though it has always been here — wide wraparound porch, stone-edged lawn, and the silhouettes of tall pines pressed against an ink-blue sky. Stone steps lead up from the water's edge; lantern light spills through leaded-glass windows onto the cedar shakes above.
Step through the door
The cathedral living room stops you in your tracks: a soaring fieldstone fireplace anchored by a carved pine mantel, leather wingback chairs, and skylights letting patches of forest light fall across the knotty board-and-batten walls. Framed vintage photographs add quiet history to the space. Beyond the living area the kitchen carries the same warm woodwork, honey-stained cabinetry, a deep farmhouse sink beneath a stained-glass pendant lamp, and a stacked LG washer-dryer tucked neatly into the utility corner. Meals at the dining table happen with the forest in the window.
Room to rest
Five bedrooms sleep up to 12 across 3 bathrooms. The primary suite is a standout, vaulted ceiling, a river-rock fireplace with a mounted TV above, wide windows framing the trees, and an ornately carved antique headboard set against tongue-and-groove pine walls. Additional rooms echo the same honey-wood warmth.
Outside your door
The lake is the heart of the property. Stone steps descend to the water's edge where, at golden hour, the dock stretches into Long Lake and the sunset turns the whole surface copper and deep blue, exactly what you see in the photos. A BBQ and patio round out the outdoor living.
What's Nearby
You're staying amid the lakes and wine trails that make Traverse City one of Michigan's most beloved destinations. Old Mission Peninsula wineries, the Leelanau rail trail, and downtown TC's restaurants are all a short drive.
Perfect For
Large families or groups of up to 12 who want genuine lakefront character, antique-rich interiors, a private dock, pet-friendly grounds, and enough bedrooms for everyone to spread out.
