The Cabin
About this cabin
Proudly weathered, soaringly open, and set hard against the Pere Marquette River corridor — this riverfront cabin in Baldwin is built for people who mean business about the outdoors.
The exterior is clad in classic wood siding, tucked into a snowy pine canopy that surrounds the property on all sides; in winter the river view through the trees is the kind of scene that ends up framed. A woodstove in the corner sends its stack straight up, and you can smell the pine before you even reach the door. The porch opens directly toward those snow-laden conifers and the river below, a true Northern Michigan vacation rental for families who fish, hike, and want a proper base camp.
The heart of the home
The great-room shoots up to a cathedral ceiling with exposed heavy timber beams and a lofted sleeping area overhead, reached by a sturdy wood staircase with rod-iron railing. Paneled in rough-sawn planks that have gone silver-grey with age, it's warm and honest, a comfortable sofa and armchair cluster around the freestanding woodstove, while a large dining table with mission-style chairs anchors the other side. The kitchen beyond is fully functional: oak cabinets crowned with fishing-themed signage, double sink, white refrigerator, dishwasher, and an electric range, everything you need to feed a crew after a day on the water.
Where you'll sleep
Four bedrooms sleep up to 10. Main-floor rooms include a twin-bed room with knotty-paneled walls and red plaid curtains, purely nostalgic. The loft holds additional sleeping with sloped ceilings and a rocking chair nook that catches tree-filtered light. Two full bathrooms serve the household.
What's Nearby
The Pere Marquette is one of Michigan's designated Wild and Scenic Rivers, legendary for steelhead and salmon runs. Baldwin itself is surrounded by Manistee National Forest trails, canoe launches, and the famous fly-fishing stretches that draw anglers from across the Midwest all year long.
Perfect For
Fishing groups, hunting parties, and families with kids who need space to roam, anyone who wants a classic, no-frills Northern Michigan cabin with a fireplace, a big table, and a wild river out front.
