The Cabin
About this cabin
Massive, dark-chinked logs stacked floor to ridge, snow blanketing a cathedral roofline, pines standing sentinel all around — this is the Northern Michigan wilderness lodge that most people only imagine. Ten private acres of riverfront forest surround a structure that feels genuinely historic: a true hand-hewn log cabin with a great room soaring two stories under exposed timber trusses and a full-size stone chimney rising through the roof.
Inside the lodge
Step through the front door and the great room stops you cold, in the best way. Round-log walls glow amber under a chandelier wrought in antler motifs; a plaid loveseat and a buttoned navy leather armchair face the stone fireplace; a mounted buck presides over the staircase that climbs to the upper loft. A second, longer sitting room lined with tall windows and stacked with firewood offers leather recliners, a teal club chair, and amber-shaded lamps, the kind of space that earns its "lodge" name. The kitchen, glimpsed beyond a doorway, shows stainless appliances ready for the group.
Where you'll sleep
The main-floor bedroom has a sleigh bed against chinking-striped log walls under a beamed ceiling, deeply atmospheric. The loft above, accessed by the log-rail staircase, holds two more beds under a steep A-frame peak with an antler chandelier: a dramatic, cave-like sleeping space that sleeps the remaining guests. The 1-bed / 3-bath setup across the lodge's 8-guest footprint gives everyone room to breathe.
What's Nearby
The riverfront acreage borders quiet forest, yet Traverse City is within reach for wineries, dining, and Sleeping Bear Dunes, making this an ideal anchor for a proper Northern Michigan escape.
Perfect For
Larger groups or multi-generational families who want a genuine backcountry lodge experience, pet-friendly, deeply secluded, and dramatic enough that the drive to get here feels like part of the trip.
