The Cabin
About this cabin
Honey-warm knotty pine from floor to ceiling, a river-stone fireplace, and a private lake out back — this lakefront cabin near Traverse City is as close to a classic Michigan north-woods retreat as you'll find.
Pulling up the stone path through tall hardwoods you're greeted by a modest cedar-shake bungalow with flower boxes and a welcoming front door, the scale is intimate but the setting is anything but. Spider Lake glimmers beyond the back deck, and a yellow outbuilding sits just off to the side. The whole property has the feel of a beloved family compound that's been quietly upgraded.
Inside the cabin
The living room is entirely cladded in vertical knotty-pine boards that continue right up into the vaulted pine-plank ceiling, it envelops the room in amber warmth. The full-height river-stone fireplace anchors one wall, a grey sectional sofa faces the lake-view sliding doors, and a leather club chair sits to one side. Natural light pours through the arched transom window above the sliders and through a pair of casement windows, keeping the room bright despite the deep wood tones. The kitchen, fully visible from here, runs under its own lower pine ceiling with track lighting: knotty-pine cabinets, gas range, white refrigerator, and a small breakfast table tucked into the corner for morning coffee.
Where you'll sleep
Four bedrooms sleep up to 10. The primary is fully enveloped in pine, walls, ceiling, even the built-in wardrobe doors, and holds a queen bed with warm yellow bedding and proper closet storage. A second snug bedroom down the hall has pine walls and a peek at the lake, while additional rooms round out the four-bedroom count. Two full bathrooms complete the house.
Outside your door
A rear deck overlooks Spider Lake, with a dock stretching into calm water ideal for swimming and fishing. The fire-pit ring with camp chairs sits just off the back lawn, perfect for evenings after a day on the water.
What's Nearby
Spider Lake sits in the forested fringe between Traverse City's wine country and the Manistee National Forest. The full breadth of what makes Traverse City a destination. Old Mission Peninsula wineries, Sleeping Bear Dunes, and Grand Traverse Bay beaches, is within easy reach.
Perfect For
Families and groups of up to 10 who want the full lakefront cabin experience with a fireplace, dock, and fire pit, anglers, kayakers, and anyone whose idea of a great vacation starts with a pine-paneled room and ends around a lakeside campfire.
