The Cabin

About this cabin

Tucked at the end of a winding, hardwood-shaded driveway marked only by a weathered wooden sign, this multi-level cabin in Glen Arbor is the quietly confident kind of forest retreat — board-and-batten siding blending into the tree line, two decks stepping down through the pines, and a fire pit clearing out front where the afternoon light filters gold through the canopy.

Inside the cabin

The main living room is viewed best from the loft rail above: a full-length dining table for eight shares the carpeted floor with a plaid sectional, a glass-top coffee table, and a ceiling fan turning slowly beneath a slatted wood ceiling with a skylight above. Windows on two walls let in flickering green forest light. The space has a well-used, genuinely comfortable cottage feeling rather than a designed one. The eat-in kitchen connects directly to this living area; the layout is functional and stocked for a group.

The bedrooms

Three bedrooms sleep six. The primary suite is roomy and calm, a queen bed with a white slatted headboard, carpet underfoot, a wicker side table, and a window looking straight into the pines. An en-suite bath is glimpsed through the open door; a second full bathroom features a long double-sink vanity and a separate toilet room, keeping traffic moving for a group of six. Three bathrooms total means no early-morning queues.

Outside your door

Two tiered decks, one off the main living level, one off the upper floor, provide separate spots to sit out among the trees, and the fire pit clearing at ground level is sized for a full group of six around the flames.

What's Nearby

You're minutes from the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and Lake Michigan's clearest swimming beaches, Glen Arbor is the ideal base for dune climbs, kayaking the Platte River, and watching the sunset from Empire Bluff Trail.

Perfect For

Families or friend groups of six who want genuine forest seclusion close to the Sleeping Bear Dunes, with enough bathrooms for everyone and two decks for breathing room between the trees.
